BUSINESS IN FULL SWING H — ___ SLAUGHTERMEN ALSO START. M FRESH MEAT FROM TO-DAY. V r "Business as usual" the sense of the '•§*' [ usual practice prior to the strike that bel gan on November 15 and ended with the t agreement arrived at between the parties .on December was the rule in the buti chers' shops of Auckland and its suburbs > yesterday. Practically the whole of the t members of the Butchers' Union, the main ' exceptions being the men who have found other occupations in the three weeks of strike, were back in their former posts » early yesterday morning, and the meati delivery carts were again busy on their rounds everywhere but at Otahuhu. c Another effect of the settlement of the strike was to enable the resumption of slaughtering operations at the municipal 5 abattoirs and the export slaughterhouses - at Westfield, the employees of which had 5 dropped tools in sympathy with the retail butchers. The full staff of the municipal works were on band, ample stock were 1 available, and killing was in full swing. 5 Yesterday's trade in the city was neces--1 sarily carried on with the frozen meat that has stood the consuming public in such ! good stead during the crisis, but freshly killed meat from the abattoirs will be ■ placed on the market to-day. ' The auction sales of fat stock at Westi field will be resumed to-morrow. i ——_^ ====^== __
