INFLUENZA IN PROVINCE.
NOTIFICATIONS LAST WEEK. THIRTY-TWO DURING WEEK-END. Notifications of 154 cases of influenza in - the Auckland health district were received by the district health officer during the -week ended noon yesterday. They comprised 22 mild cases and one severe in the Auckland City area, 21 mild and three severe cases in the suburbs, one mild at Helensville, 87 mild in the Waikato district, three mild at Waihi, six mild at Tauranga, nine mild in the Bay of Plenty, and one mild at Taumarunui. The total number appears to be specially large when compared with the total for the previous week, namely, 97, but the notifications received from the Hamilton district last week include many old cases. Eighteen cases of pneumonia occurred last week. They included 11 cases in the Auckland City and suburbs, five in the Waikato, and one leach at Thames and WaihL From noon on Saturday until noon yesterday 32 cases of influenza were notified. They comprised five mild cases and one severe in the city area, 10 mild cases in the suburbs, nine mild in the Waikato district, one mild at Waihi, and four mild and two severe at Whakatane. During the same period three cases of pneumonia in the city, one at Waihi, and one at Gordonton were recorded.
