GALLANT OFFICER HONOURED

HUMANE SOCIETY'S MEDAL. A posthumous award of the Royal Humane Society's bronze medal has been made to the late Lieutenant B. E. Tibbs, R.E.,son of Mr. J. W. Tibbs, of Auckland, in recognition of his gallant attempt to rescue a Sepoy from drowning in the>River Tigris on December 9, 1917. The deceased officer won the Auckland Grammar School Swimming Cup for the Old Boys' Race in 1906.
