LABOUR IN AMERICA.
A NATIONAL PROGRAMME. ARBITRATION OPPOSED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 12.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 1. The American Federation of Labour has issued a statement advo- ■ eating the enactment of the follow- I ing laws:—Prohibition of child labour, total restriction of immigration for two years, a minimum wage for Government employees, prohibition of inter-State transportation of convict labour products, provision of land and homes for soldiers and sailors, loans to citizens for building homes, and the repeal of all taxes on necessaries of life. The federation urges that Congress should speedily approve the League of Nations, including the Labour provisions. The statement concludes: " Nothing results in more injury and injustice to the worker j than compulsory arbitrations."
