MUNICIPAL OFFICERS.
RETURNED MEN" ENTERTAINED. A happy gathering was held in the supper rooms at the Town Hall last evening, when the members of the Auckland City Municipal Officers' Association entertained to dinner those of their number who had been on active service. The rooms were most effectively decorated with festoons of greenery, coloured lights, and flags. There was a large attendance, including the Deputy -Mayor, Mr, A. J. Entrican, and a number of members of the council. Tho president of the association, Mr. H. \V. Wilson, who presided, read apologies from other councillors who were not able to attend. The roll of honour printed on the souvenir programme showed that 47 members had joined 'the forces, six had laid down their lives, and that, including these, 36 had served overseas. The toasts honoured included "'Our Fallen Comrades," proposed by Mr. V. F Not'.cv : " The Returned Soldiers." proposed by the chairman, and replied to by Messrs. ('. Forgie. C. R. Moses, and J. Y. Warren; and "The Auckland City Council." proposed by Mr. .T. S. Brigharn. and responded to by Messrs. A. .1. Entrican. P. M. Mack ay, and W. J. Hold.-worth. An enjoyable programme of vocal, instrumental, and elocutionary items was given by tho members of the association.
