THE WEATHER.
FORECAST BY MR. C. L. WRAGGE,
The heavy sea on the Manukau Bar which had delayed the Aupouri sinoe Wednesday afternoon, and the Claymore since Thursday afternoon., began to moderate at three o'clock yesterday morning, and by four o'clock was smooth enough for the Aupouri to cross outward for New Plymouth, and the Claymore for Hokianga. ihe bar was smooth last night, but there was a moderate breeze from the southwest. Should the wind increase from that direction it will soon render the bar unworkable again. The barometer, which had fallen to 29.80 in on Wednesday afternoon, rose after that, and by midnight on Thursday the reading was 30.10 in. It then remained practically steady, but showed signs of falling last night. The following forecast was issued by Mr. Clement L. Wragge at 8.30 p.m. yesterday :—The recent disturbance is central east from Table Cape, and conditions are suspicious between Napier and Gisborne. Furthermore it amiears that another depression of moderate energy named " Yathin," is crossing the Tasman Sea toward New Zealand. Hence we may expect unsettled and showery weather before Monday, chiefly, however, in western districts, and more pronounced south from Auckland. Winds from between west-north-west and south-south-west, but south-east a'ong the coast north from Cape Pailiser. ! Sea moderate.
