D'ANNUNZIO'S DESIGNS.
I ALARM GROWING IN ITALY. j LEADING COUNTRY TO WAR. ' DEEPENING ANGER IN SERVIA By Telegraph — Press Association— Copyright. A. and N.Z. PARIS. Nov. 26. A semi-official statement indicates that the Adriatic position is becoming critical. It is reported that D'Annunzio aims at the liberation of Montenegro from the Jugoslavs, besides the annexation of Dalmatia, and is also intriguing against the present Italian Government. D'Annunzio is making wholesale arrests of Jugoslavs as hostages for the good behaviour of the inhabitants and for his personal safety. Popular feeling against Italy is deepening in Servia owing to D'Annunzio's seizure of Zara. Italian newspapers strongly disapprove of the poet's recent actions. The Tribuna says ' that if D'Annunzio . threatens Ragusa and Spalato, Italy I will be involved in a conflict with I all the Allies. Other papers say I that the country is sick of such ad- ! ventures. There is a danger of the Socialists thinking a new war is be- ' ing provoked. ZARA EXPLOIT DENOUNCED. RESTLESS ARMY AND NAVY. Times. ROME. Not. 26. An official communique, dealing ■ with D'Annunzio's raid on Zara, - promises the fullest precautions to : prevent further raids by D'Annun- ! zio. The Government repudiates Admiral Millo, the local commander at Zara, who was previously implicitly trusted. His support of D'Annunzio caused surprise and shock. The communique adds that it ap- , pears that the army and navy is , very restless owing to the ground- . less rumour that Zara is to be ceded in exchange for Fiume. Leading ' newspapers denounce the Zara and ' Milan exploits.
