NURSES AT OPERATIONS.
OBJECTION TO PROPOSAL.
ADMINISTERING ANAESTHETICS.
The proposal pnt forward by the Chief Health Officer that registered nurses and sisters be trained to administer anaesthetics came before the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board last evening.
-The chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, strongly opposed the suggestion, saying that the board's experience with the giving of anaesthetics was that the best skill available was required. The suggested innovation might be all right in small country hospitals where difficulty was possibly experienced in getting such service, but the Auckland Board could always get the services of capable anaesthetists. Members agreed with this view and the board decided to reply that it could not see its way to adopt the proposal.
