AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.

TO-DAY'S EDITION,

PEACE-TIME USE OF TRENTHAM.

INTERESTING SERIES OF VIEWS.

! To-day's issue of the Auckland Weekly News contains a most interesting double-page of views which illustrates the peace-time use of the Trent Lam Camp for the benefit of returned soldiers. Manyphases of the fine work being carried on in the camp buildings are touched upon. and a good idea of the vocational training and the hospital treatment which the men are receiving is thus conveyed. A fine view of the cenotaph erected in Whitehall, London, to the memory of the ''glorious dead" is reproduced. The frontispiece of the number is a splendid plate, which sets forth the grandeur of the mountain scenery in Otago, while smother page gives picturesque glimpses of the Cold Lakes region of the SouthIsland. New York under a 'neat wave and the settling of a recent great strike in Canada form two very interesting subjects. Many other excellent views are also reproduced, including the following : —The New Zealand-owned horse learning -winning the Craven Plate at the Randwick Spring Meeting at Sydney ; the opening of the Plunket Home at Wanganui by the Countess of Liverpool ; the great crater of Mount Kloet. in Java, the overflow of which caused the death of several thousands of the inhabitants ; the recent stranding of the auxiliary schooner Echo at W T airoa, Hawke's Bay; and returned soldiers inspecting a fine block of land on the banks of the Waitara River. Tararaki. Portraits of the Bishop-elect of Dunedin; the Hons. J. B. Hine and J. G. Coates, the two soldier members of the Cabinet: and the late Mr. H. B. Irving, are also reproduced.
