OBITUARY.

DEATHS OF OLD COLONISTS.

MR. ARTHUR LOVETT

An old colonist in the person of Mr Arthur Lovett died at his residence Mount Eden, last week, aged 73. Mr Lovett, who was a native of Nottingham arrived in Auckland by the ship Ida Zeigler 55 years ago, and with the excep tion of a stay of six years at his birth place in England, had lived here ever since Mr. Lovett was for 25 years in business n, a draper and outfitter in Wellesley Street retiring about 25 years ago. He wai organist at the old Albert Street Congregational Church for some rear*, and for some time was a men'' ber of the Choral Society orchestra. He was also a member of the Commercial Travellers' Club. The deceased is survived by Mre. Lovett and four married daughter? —Mrs. H. J. Moore-Jones, Matsmata': Mrs. Harold Walton, Mrs. A. (",. Walker, and Mrs. H. Morpeth, of Auckland. MR. W. D. LESLIE. Another old colonist, Mr. W, D. Leslie, died at bis residence, Kaeo, on Sep tern - ber 19 at the age of 83. Mr. Leslie was bom in County Kerry. Ireland, and came t<> New Zealand in the ship Mary Shepherd in 1856. He was engaged in mining for a period at Coromandel and Thames, and then settled in the Whangaroa \Countv. where he resided for 50 years. Two son.-. were killed on active service in France. The deceased is survived by Mrs Leslie, four eons, five daughters, arid twenty -four grandchildren. MRS. HORATIO PHILLIPS. The death occurred on Saturday at her residence, Hamilton Road, Ponsonbv, of Mrs. Phillips, widow of the late Mr. Horatio Phillips. The deceased lady was widely known throughout the Auckland district, having been associated with her late hu>band at the Kauaeranga Boys' School. Than**, for over 20 years. Sirs, Phillip? is survived by five sons and two daughters. The interment will take place at Thames to-morrow.
