BASIC LIVING WAGE.
OBJECTION IN N.S.W. HANDICAP TO INDUSTRIES. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, Oct. 17. The president of the Chamber of Manufacturers, in his speech at the annual meeting of the Chamber, Raid the State would be appallingly handicapped by the new living wage in competition with other States. The council of the Chamber was urging the Federal Government to fix the basic living wage for the Commonwealth, and lift the State from the position which menaced its industrial life.
