DEPTH CHARGE TO FIND BODY

BOY WHO FELL INTO POND. A number of depth charges were exploded in the Malady Quarry pond, Cardiff, in order to assist in the recovery of the body of a Jad named F. Ferris, aged eight, who, while playing on the bank, fell in and was drowned. - The pond ie over 100 ft in depth, with precipitous rocky shelving walls. The body of the lad is probably held under one of these, or pinned to the bottom by some fallen debris. Livers were sent for, but the conditions are too hazardous for diving, so recourse was had to depth charges, several of which were exploded. Beyond a great disturbance of the water there was no result. The quarry is derelict, and the pond being situated in » densely-populated district is a peril to all children.
