STOCKS AND SHARES.
BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY. The tone of the sharemaxket was again good yesterday. Investment lines ■were in strong demand, and prices "Were firm for _ most stocks. In banks, Commercials (pref.) were looked for at £6 7s, and Nationals at £6 Ba, with sellers of the latter at £6 lis. New Zeal an da were held at £15 Is 6d, and fully paids were wanted at £18 18s 6d, sellers asking £193 Id. Ia insurances there were sales of South British at £9 9s, late sellers £9 10s and buyers at £9 Bs. New Zealands were firmly held at 34s 9d and buyers offered 34s 4d. Nationals had sellers at 84s 6d and buyers at 83s. In financial lines, Loan and Mercantiles changed hands at £116, an advance of £3 on the previous day's buying price, and for preference issue £70 was paid, an advance of £5 on the best offers on Thursday. In shipping, Devonport Ferry sold at 295, with further buyers at. 28s 6d and sellers at 30s. Huddart-Parkers were a shade easier at 46s 9d, buyers 465. P. and O.'s weakened a little, sellers quoting at £598, with no buyers at last call. In miscellaneous lines business was reported in New Zealand Refrigerating (o'.c!) at 95s and 95s 3d, and new issue were wanted at 25s 3d, with sellers at 26s £d. In mining, Talismans firmed again, sales being reported at lis 8d and lis 9d, with late sellers at 12s and buyers at lis 9d. Rising Suns sold at Is 6d. Waihis had sustained inquiry at 48s, sellers 495. Grand Junctions were offered at 15s, no buyers quoting. AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.
