LIMITATION OF PROFITS.
NEW BRITISH FOOD ORDER. CONTROL OF RETAIL PRICES. Australian and X.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 12 30 a.m ) LONDON, Sept. 24. Mr. C. A. McCurdy, Parliamentary Secretary to the Food Ministry, has announced a new food order, limiing the gross profits of retailers of ;ish, fruit and vegetables to per ent. He states that it is impossible tt fix unform prices for the whole counry. Controlled prices must be rarjd'ly adjustable to meet sudden fluctuations in cost. Therefore the Government is empowering local ©mmittees to regulate retail price* in their own districts. The new orler ■will come into operation on Sepfcmber 29 in certain Midland areas. ;
