WELLINGTON'S HIGH RENTS.

Evidence regarding high rents charged in Wellington was given in a judgment summons case heard at Napier recently. The defendant, who had been living in that city, was- asked what he paid for rent. " Fifteen shillings." he replied, and after a pause added, " For one room." "What," exclaimed the magistrate, "15s for one room?" "Yes," replied defendant, " and we v ?re asked 25s for another room ws had thcight of shifting to, and you absolutely cannot get anything at a lower figure in Wellington."
