FIRE AT ELLERSLIE.

BUTCHER'S SHOP BURNED. BAND INSTRUMENTS DESTROYED. A two-storied building at the corner of Panmure Road and Ladies' Mile, Ell'erslie, owned by Mr. W. Bartlett and used as a shop by Mr. S. Day, butcher, was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. The flames had a secure hold when the Ellerslie brigade arrived, and as it was impossible to save the building the brigade concentrated its efforts to preventing the fire spreading to the adjoining premises. In addition to a quantity of meat in the shop, some band instruments which were stored in the building were destroyed. The building was insured for £200 with the South British Company, while the stock was covered by a policy in the Victoria office. It is not known how. the fire originated,
