GRAMMAR SCHOOLS' BOARD.

The Auckland Grammar Schools Board met yesterday. Professor A. P. W. Thomas presiding. There were also present :— The Hon. J. A. To'.e, Messrs. W. A. Cumming, and 0. Nicholson. Leave of absence was granted to Miss Hutton to attend the University of California for a special course of physical instruction. A silver challenge cup, for long distance cycling, was received from Mr. A. M. Carter, in memory of his son, Norman Carter, who was killed in action. The board decided to accept the gift with thanks.
