Mr. J. S. Dent, Mayor of Whangarei, accompanied by Mrs. Dent, is visiting Auckland in connection with the visit of Lord Jellicoe.

The Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald (Bay of Plenty) made his first appearance in the House of Representatives on Tuesday since meeting with his accident.

Mr. S. J. Elliott, solicitor, wan admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court by Mr. Justice Cooper yesterday, on the motion of Mr. W. Oliphant.

Captain W. Hicks, M.M., of Parneil, who reached Wellington by the Hororata, has arrived in Auckland. He left as a gunner in the artillery, Main Body.

Mr. A. Spencer was yesterday re-elected president of the Auckland Provincial Emplovers' Association. Captain Hammond and Mr. W. J. Jaggs were elected vicepresidents.

The Hon. R. Heaton Rhodes (Eliesmere), who returned to the Dominion by the Corinthic on Monday, took his seat in the House of Representatives on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. J. Cullen, commissioner in charge of the Jugoslav organisation branch of the Defence Department, and honorary warden of the Toncjariro Park", has returned from his visit to the country districts.

Commander T. P. Calvert. D.5.0.. Pay. master Lieut. -Commander H. P. Hunter, D.S.C., and Engineer Commander J. 0. Matters, of the New Zealand, were passengers for Wellington by the express train last evening.

His Honor Mr. Justice Edwards was unable, owing to indisposition, to be present at the sitting of the Appeal Court m Wellington on Monday. The Chief Justice stated that Mr. Justice Edwards had a high temperature on Sunday.

Major C. N. Newman, D.5.0., of Mount Eden, who returned in command of the troops on the Hororata, reached Auckland on Tuesday. He has a Ions; record of service. He left as a lieutenant in A Battery, Main Body and served with the artillery on Gallipoli and in France. He was not -wounded, but was gassed. Ha is one of three brothers who left in the Main Body and is the second to return.
