CHILD LABOUR PROBLEM.
M SWEATING" IN DUNEDIN. EDUCATION BOARD'S CONCERN. [BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, Thursday. The question of child labour was again before the Education - Board today, when the truant officer submitted a report showing that 365 children in the city and suburban schools were engaged in various occupations before and after school hours. Some boys were obliged to rise as early as 3 a.m., and work 38£ hours weekly for a wage of 12s. Others working snorter hour s were earning from lis to 3s. The board resolved to send copies of the report to th« Education Department and the Labour Department.
