PROPOSED BOAT HARBOUR.
POWER BOAT ASSOCIATION.
ATTITUDE TO THE SCHEME
Some discussion on the proposed boat harbour took place at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Power-boat Association last evening.
The commodore. Mr. A. G. Lunn. said that while members cordially supported the provision of a boat harbour when financial conditions permitted, they did not associate themselves with any of the remarks reflecting on the Harbour Board. In his opinion the board had always done all in its power to further the interests of yachting and motor-boating and he wished it to be clearly understood that the association did not have anything to do with the proposed scheme for a boat harbour. He moved that " This association dissociates itself from any remarks reflecting on the Harbour Board, or any of its officials."
Mr. S. H. Ley land. seconding the motion, said there had been some misunderstanding over the matter, and he thought the association should clear itself. Mr. E. J. Kelly said he was a member of the committee who went into the question of the boat harbour. The meeting held recently in reference to the matter was a public meeting, and no yacht clubs had anything to do with it. Mr. ('• J. C'ollings said that they wanted a boat harbour, and the board should help them to get one. The association should assist the public to procure a boat harbour, and not try to undermine what the committee had done in the matter.
The motion was carried without further discussion.
