ONEHUNGA TRAM SERVICE.
MINIMUM-FARE CAR -SUGGESTED.
The tram service to Onehunga was the subject of a communication received by the One-tree Hill Road Board last evening from the Auckland City Council. The council stated that in connection with complaints as to the inadequacy of the service it had been suggested that the 5.3 p.m. car from Wellesley Street should be made the mini-mum-fare car, but it would be necessary to obtain the consent of the majority of the local bodies concerned. The chairman, Mr. H. Dobbie, said the proposal was apparently to cut out first and perhaps second section passengers from this car. The board decided to agree to the proposal, but the general opinion was that one minimum-fare car would not help the outer suburbs very greatly. Inti.nation as to the suggested minimum fare was received on Tuesday by the Mount Roskill Road Board, which gave its consent to the proposed change.
