KILLED BY TAXI-CAB.
i WIDOW'S FATAL iNJURIES, ACCIDENT IN KHYBEE PASS." KNOCKED DOWN IN ROAD. A fatal accident occurred in Khyber Pass about 8.30 o'clock last evening, a widow, Mrs. Rafferty, being knocked down by a taxi-cab driven by Mr. B. G. Hatcher, of Ladies' Mile, Rerauera. Mrs. Rafferty was conveyed to Wis Auckland Hospital, but died immediately after admission.
The deceased, who lived with relative? at No. 20, *Ellei-ton Road, Mount Eden, was crossing Khyber Pass from Park Road to go to the tram stop at the intersection. When about half-way across the road she stopped, apparently thinking the car, which was travelling towards Syraonds Street, intended to go straight ahead. The car turned across the road to proceed down Park Road, and knocked Mrs. Rafferty down. The driver of the car stated that he did not see the deceased in the road until he was very close upon her. An inquest will be opened this rooming.
