INQUEST ON THE VICTIMS.
EVIDENCE OF A PASSENGER.
VERDICT OF MISADVENTURE.

GISBOBNE. Monday.
The inquest concerning the death of Mrs. James and Mr. Thomas Bushnell, the victims of the coach accident on the lolaga Bay Road, was held to-day. The medical evidence was that Mrs. James, the passenger, had her neck broken. Mr. Bushnell, the driver, died from a rupture of the meningeal artery, caused by a fracture of the skull. Mr. Neilson, the injured passenger, said the lady and her child were sitting beside the driver. Witness was inside the coach. Reaching the hill near Tatapouri, the hcrses broke into a gallop. Witness saw the driver endeavouring to pull them up. He then saw Mrs. James and the driver thrown off the coach. After the coach had gone two chains witness jumped out and saw that Mrs. James was dead zza Mr. Bushnell injured. A verdict was returned that death was the result of an accident caused by misadventure, no evidence having been adduced to show how the accident hapDened. No blame was attachable to anyone.
