CITY'S WAR MEMORIAL.
VIEWS OF LOCAL BODIES. Further replies from local bodies Km. earning the City Council's proposed was? memorial scheme were received at last evening's meeting of that body. The Mount Eden Borough Council approved the erection of a museum, also the proposal to obtain the old dock site, but preferred that the erection thereon should be of use and-benefit to the large numbers who would attend this spot. It suggested a resting place and shelter, with bandstand and drinking fountain, or whatever might render the memorial attractive.
The Manukau County Council endorsed the proposals, but could not give financial support. The Manurewa Town Board approved the museum scheme but not the dock proposal. The following bodies intimated their inability to co-operate :—Hamilton, Onehunga, Tauranga, and Paeroa Borough Councils: YVaitemata, Awakino, and Hobson County Councils; Warkworth and Morrinsville Town Boards; Puhoi Eoad Board.
