JAPANESE TUNNEL SCHEME
LINKING TWO ISLANDS. TEN YEARS TO COMPLETE. A. and N.Z. TOKIO. Sept. 2. It is announced that the Imperial Railways Department will construct a submarine tunnel across the Shimonoseki Moji Strait, between the Island of Hondo, the largest of the Japanese group, and Kiushiu, the southernmost of the three main islands. It is estimated that the tunnel will take ten years to complete.
