IMPROVEMENT IN WEATHER

MANUKAU BAR MODERATING.

FORECAST BY MR. C. L. WRAGGE.

The weather at Auckland, which had been stormy since Sunday, improved concons"derably yesterday. The wind moderated to a fresh breeze and the showers were less frequent.

Improvement was also reported from the VSest Coast, the wind having chanced to the west-south-west and fallen away" to a fresh breeze. The sea on the Manukau i Bar last night was verv heavy, and the. [ bar was then unworkable. The sea had been moderating since 4 p.m., and it was | thought that if the wind did. not change back to the south-west and the sea continued moderating as it was doing the bar would probably be workable to-day. The Rarawa managed to cross inwards from New Plymouth yesterdav morning, but was unable, owing to the state of the bar, to leave for New Plymouth in the afternoon, and her departure was postponed until 3 p.m. to-morrow.
