BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY. Business was brisk on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday. New Zealand war loan stock (1938 issue) sold at £96 ss, buyers quoting £96 at the last call. In j banks. New Zealand buyers advanced a shilling to £14 14s, sellers remaining firm !at £15. For fully-paid issue buyers offered i £18 12s 6d, sellers £18 ivs. National j sellers quoted £6 10s 6d, but no buyers J offered. In insurances, New Zealand | buyers hardened to 32s 6d, sellers holding ; for 33s 9d. South British remained firm ,' at the preceding day's figures. In Nai tionals, buyers offered 83s 6d. In financial I lines, New Zealand Loan and Mercantile , buyers dropped to £114, sellers holding , for £122. In shipping lines, P. and 0. (deferred stock) stood at £560, with buyers ,up to £542 at the last call. HuddartParkers were wanted at 48s, sellers threepence in advance. In miscellaneous lines, a sale of S. R. Maxwell and Company at 31s was reported. Buyers in New Zealand Befrigeratings offered 89s 6d, but sellers were firm at a shilling higher. Wilsons Cements sold at 16s Id. Business was brisk in mining shares. Waihis sold twice at 48s 3d, buyers offering 47s 9d at the last call. There were three sales of Waihi Grand Junctions at 15s 6d.
