LICENSING LEGISLATION
♦ - CHANGES IN AUSTRALIA. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Seed. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 28. The New South Wales Alliance has carried a resolution against the State Government's new licensing proposals, unless provision is made to take, during the present session of Parliament, a local option vote on a bare majority basis. It has also passed a resolution against the adoption of the Victorian system of licensing. Curiously enough Victoria is abandoning this system after the next elections in favour of the system now in | existence in New South Wales, excep'tng i that it is provided that compensation I shall be paid by the trade, instead of by j the time method. i
