Replying to an agitation by the press for cheaper cable rates, the managing director of the Amalgamated Wireless Company states that his company has applied for a Government license to establish a. wireless station in Australia, in conjunction with the Marconi Com pan to conduct a direct wireless service with Eng- I land. The company is prepared to handle all classes of messages at one-third less than the existing cable rates. The com- 1 pany hopes to make substantial reductions as traffic increases. j
