OPENING OF CAMPAIGN. i INVESTIGATING COSTS. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Aug. 27 Mr. C. A. MoCurdy has begun the administration of the Profiteering Act. He has secured expert repre- A sentatives of employers and workmen to inquire into the producing < costs in several industries, includ- ] ing boots, clothes, underwear, ( household utensils, and necessaries. The object is not to fix the prices or institute prosecutions, but to publish the facts for public information. > The Ministry is also creating temporary machinery to investigate the methods and profits of any business, pending legislation for per- ' manent machinery.
