ACCEPTABLE COMPROMISE. LEAGUE TO LEASE PORT. SEMI-OFFICIAL STATEMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association— ißoccived 10.80 p.m.) A. and N.Z. PARIS. Aug. 27. It is semi-officially understood that Italy is willing to accept a compromise in regard to Fiume, b- which the town goes to Italy, while the League of Nations will lease the free port of Fiume, together with the harbour of Porto Barosa, for 98 years, and will also control the railways. This solution awaits the approval of the United States.
