OUTPUT DURING JULY. DECREASE 41,878 TONS. 18,089 TONS FOR RAILWAYS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Monday/ Details of the coal supplies during July were given by the Minister for Supplies to-day. Mr. Myers said his Department obtained monthly particulars of the output from the principal mines. The figures now to hand show that the output from these mines during July was 138,240 tons. The output from the same mines during July, 1918, was 180,118 tons, so that there was a decrease in the production during July this year, compared with July last year, of 4l",878 tons. Importations during last month totalled 31,715 tons, as against 24,727 tons imported during July, 1918. The increase of 6988 tons in importations makes the net reduction in the supplies from both sources for the month of July, 1919, as compared with the same month for last year, 34,890 tons. The output from the principal West Coast mines was 78,231 tens last month, as against 93,537 for July, 1918. This represents a reduced output of hard coal, when compared with July, 1918, of 15,306 tons. Asked as to the quantity of coaJ actually received by the Railways Department during July Mr. Myers said that figures to hand show this to be 18,089 tons, which includes brown coal and lignite from, the Taupiri and other mines. NO FURTHER RESTRICTIONS. The position in regard to street lighting in Auckland was further discussed yesterday by the Deputy-Mayor, Mir. A. 'J. Entrican, the city electrical engineer, Mr. A. Wyllie, and the engineer to the Auckland Gas Company, Mr. J. Lowe. It -was reported that the position in regard to coal supplies was no worse than it was last week, and that there was as yet no necessity for any restrictions further than the discontinuance of street lighting after midnight as already resolved upon. It was suggested that if the need for further economy arose tradesmen be asked to extinguish lights under verandahs earlier than at present. It was stated that the Gas Company was expecting to receive two cargoes of coal next week.
