LARGER COAL STOCKS.
POSITION ON RAILWAYS. SPECIAL TRAINS PROBABLE. ASSISTANCE TO INDUSTRIES. An important statement to the effect that the supply of coal to the railways has somewhat improved during the last ten days of a fortnight, was contained in a letter' received yesterday from Sir James Alien, Minister for Defence, by Mr. T. Blood worth, district organiser of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and 1 Joiners. As a result of this improvement, , Sir James Allen said heunderstood that j the Minister for Railways, the Hon. W. ! H. Herries, might be able to arrange for some special trains to relieve the pressure with regard to building material and other items which are urgently needed for the industries of the country.
