GAS TO BE DEARER
ANOTHER INCREASE OF 6d. EFFECT ON SEPTEMBER READINGS. A further increaso of sixpence per thousand feet in the price of gas is notified by tho Auckland Gas Company. The increase, which will come into effect on August 1, and be charged on the September readings, will bring the price to 7s 4d per thousand feet, or 6s od, less discount. The extrr.. cliarge is stated to have been found necessary owing to the increased cost of coal and labour. The two previous increase;*, . each of sixpence per thousand feet, came into effect in May,, 1918, and February last respectively.
