ELDERLY WOMAN ASPHYXIATED.
GAS SELF-ADMINISTERED.
An inquest wad held yesterday by the coroner, Mr. J. E. Wilson, S.M., concerning the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Flynn, aged 60, whose body was found at her residence, 82, Franklin Road, on Sunday. The evidence of the deceased's husband, Gerald Gordon Flynn, was that ho and his wife had lived happily together since their marriage. Occasionally she referred to Clio death of her two children, and, though they died some 20 years ago, she seemed unable to forget them. On Sunday she seemed quito cheerful, and prepared the mid-day meal as usual, although she did not take any food herself, In the afternoon she declined to go for a walk with him, but did' not suggest that she wished him to go out. On his return at 5 p.m. he noticed a flight smell of gas, and on going info the kitchen f<und hie wife lying on the floor, her face covered with a coat and a tube from the gas jet leading to her mouth. The gas was turned half on, but the window and the door were both partially open. He called Dr. Keller, but he could only pronounce life extinct. A neighbour who saw the deceased constantly gave evidence as to her usual good humour. She also could offer no suggestion ns to deceased's reason for taking her life. The coroner returned a verdict that death was due to asphyxiation bv gas, eel -administered. * ' °
