PUBLIC SERVICE TENDERS.
MANUFACTURERS COMPLAIN,
[Dt TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.]
WELLINGTON, Monday.
At to-night's meeting of the Wellington Industrial Association a tetter was read from the Canterbury Industrial Association complaining that the Public Service Supplies Board, in calling tenders for various items, imposed conditions which favoured the importer as against the local manufacturer, although many of tho goods required w°re made in New Zealand. One of the principal grievances was that white tho local manufacturer had to pay duty on materials for manufacture, goods brought in by the importer whosfi tender was accepted came in duty free. After discussion a motion was carried that the Canterbury Association should be informed that the Wellington As*ocia« tion would support any action taken tf secure the reforms desired.
