i NEED. FOR RESEARCH WORK BURSARIES FOR STUDENTS. [BY TELEGRAPH. ASSOCIATION'.] DCN'EDIN. Wednesday, A deputation representing the School of Mines, waited on the Hon. W. ]). S. MacDonald to-day. and urged that the Department of Mines should offer, say, 10 bursaries of ■ £50 with-fee.; for students living away from home. The deputation also suggested that bettor use be made, of the staff in investigating mining problems. If assistants were provided tha professors would be able to do something regarding research work. ■ The Minister expressed agreement with the deputation. Last year only one man wen a DCTsary. He was "rcpared to ask bis colleagues to vote what was necessary. The country could well afford to have a thorough-expert examination of-itc mincial resources.
