RAISING BRITISH LOAN.
AUTHORITY FOR . £250,000,000. MAKING GOOD THE DEFICIT. A. and N.Z. LONDON. June 2. The House of Commons passed a resolution authorising a loan not exceeding .6250,000,000, to cover the deficit for the year. The terms will not be disclosed until the prospectus is issued after Whitsuntide. Mr. Austen Chamberlain, Chancellor of the Exchequer, said that as the result of the ready response to previous loans Britain stood in a position unrivalled among the belligerents who entered the war at its commencement.
