BURGLARS AT ASHBURTON.
.SEVERAL PREMISES VISITED jSMALL SUMS OF MONEY TAKEN. I [BT TELECRArn.-rP.ES3 ASSOCIATION.] ' j ASHBURTON, Wednesday. 1 Burglars entered the premises of Mr, | D. Friedlandcr. auctioneer, last evening, : and obtained £35 from two cash boi« . located in a strongroom, having forced the : locks of the latter. They also entered tho 1 premises of Messrs. Friedlandcr Brothers : grain merchants, and Mr. J. W. Bowden ' accountant, and made thorough search i documents being scattered in all directions. ; The intruders obtained no cash. Hie | school and rectory were also visited, but ! apparently nothing was stolen. These . buildings were closed for the term holi- ! days. ! A taxi proprietor, Leonard Newman, on i his return home !at« in the evening, found | that burg'ars had visited his home near ; the railway station. A cheque for a I small sum was missing. ! Tools for opening windows, locks, etc. j were evidently obtained from the railway i workshops, which had been broken into, I A jemmy was found in Mr. D. Fried* : lander's office. j —— 1
