UNION COMPANY'S HULK.

FULLY LADEN WITH COAL.

IN TWELVE FEET OF WATER,

The Union Company's coal-hulk, No. 6, sank at her moorings off Shoal Bay, early yesterday morning. The hulk, which was fully loaded with coal, was safe when inspected on Sunday afternoon. It is not known how the accident occurred, but it is believed that tlje rough sea in the harbour during the heavy squalfc from the south-west wan responsible for her sinking. She is covered by about 12ft of water at high tide, when only her masts are showing, and considerable difficulty will be experienced in floating her. Until she is raised it will not be known what damage she has sustained.
