SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION. •TESTS WITH COUNTRY TEAMS. RESULTS OF SATURDAY'S PLAY. The second games of a series of test matches between Lower Waikato, Whangarei, and Suburban Association teams were commenced on the Domain on Saturday. On Good Friday Lower Waikato defeated Whangarei, and the Suburban A and B teams played a draw. On Saturday Lower _ Waikato met Suburban A. and Whangare.' took the field against Suburban B. In both matches each side completed an innings, Suburban A knocking up the respectable total of 801 against Lower Waikato, the country players responding with 178. The Suburban B team _ compiled a total of 177 against Whangarei, the latter scoring an aggregate of 180. At the request of the country teams it war decided to continue both games on Monday, play to commence at 9 a.m. SUBURBAN A ▼, LOWER WAIKATO. The Suburban team batted first, Elliott and Lonergan facing the bowling of Brook and Menzies. None of the early batsmen remained long, at the wickets, and with five Suburban wickets down for 80 runs it seemed likely that the aide would be disposed | of cheaply. Hendy was the only batsman who had been playing with confidence, and in partnership with Burnside, who was sixth man in, took the score to nearly 200 before being dismissed for a well-played 93. Burnside oontinued to score rapidly, and topped the century before being dismissed, his total being 118. Roberts (32) was the only other batsman to remain long at the wickets, the innings closing for 801. Lower Waikato started well, Meniies and Bucket!, the opening batsmen, playing the bowling with confidence. The latter was the first to go, after compiling 30 in good style. Mentiea got out unluckily when he had scored 55. The remaining batsmen failed to keep up the form shown by the opening pair, the only others to reach double figures being Brook (15), Stevens (21). and Allan (20). The innings closed for 178. TELEGRAPH.OWN correspondent.] HAMILTON, Saturday. A match between a representative team from Hamilton and an Auckland eleven was played yesterday and to-day at Boddon Park. When play commenced the wicket was very fast, and Auckland, who batted first, wore disposed of for 55 runs. R. Johnston secured four wickets for 5 runs and W. Pomeroy three for 12 runs, In their first innings Hamilton scored 100 runs, but Blamires was the only batsman to reach double figures. Gillespie was the most successful bowler for Auckland, securing seven wickets for 40 runs. In their second venture the Auckland team, batting on a wicket made very slow by the rain, scored 156, the principal contributors being Gillespie 42, Mills 23, and Elliott 23. Requiring 91 runs to win Hamilton had no great difficulty, and passed Auckland's total with_ seven wickets to spare, J. Pomeroy playing a fine not out innings of 63. The visitors scored 67 for tha loss of six wickets when stumps were drawn. H. Chandler 83 and R. Moody 13 were the only I batsmen to reach double figures.
