BREACH OF AWARD.
EMPLOYER AND WORKER FINED,
Breaches of the Monumental Masons' Award were alleged by the inspector of factories, W. Hollows, against W. Parkinson, before Mr. J). 0. Cotton, S;M., m the Magistrate's Court, on Thursday. In regard to the first charge, having failed to keep a wages and overtime Book i Mr. Hollows said he had boen unab.o to determine whether the terras 01 the award had been observod; as there was no record of hours worked by a man named Darby. The second charge was that defendant paid J. Darby Is 44d an hour, instead of the award rate, Is 6d. Tho defendant Admitted that Darby had been employed as a head fixer sinco His award came into operation. A fine of £5 was imposed. Darby was charged with having accepted pay less than the award 4*l*l' • sta that Parkinson had told him he would arrange for an underrate worker's permit. Darby was fined 10s.
