There are still a few absent voters' permits to complete the Auckland Central return. Following is the result of the official count of the licensing poll in the Manukau electorate Civilian vote : Continuance, 4017; prohibition, 5516. Seamen's vote : Continuance, 17; prohibition, 13. Absent voters : Continuance, 98; prohibition, 167. Totals Continuance, 4132; prohibition, 5696. Majority for prohibition, 1564. There were 81 informal votes. In the Napier electorate 1.06 absentees voted for continuance, 'and 142 for prohibition. There were 26 absent votes for continuance and 61 for prohibition in Mataura. The return for Halt includes 163 absent votes— for continuance and 91. for prohibition. That for Wellington Central includes 75 absent votes for continuance and 67 for prohibition; also 53 seamen's votes for continuance and 11 for prohibition. The returning officer at Ashburton found a voter who voted at two booth?. The votes were disallowed, and a prosecution will follow. Thirteen declarations were also found to be false. The official count in m-st of the districts in and around Auckland will bo commenced on Tuesday, when it is expected that the remainder of the absent voters' papers will be to hand. In all cases the scrutiny of the rolls has been completed, and in some of the district? where the official count has actually been commenced the result is being withheld so that a final pronouncement may be made when all votes are received.
