RAILWAY WANTED.
ROTORUA TO PAENGAROA. 'LARGE COMMITTEE FORMED. [BT TELIGBAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] BOTOBUA, Tneedsy. At a conference of representatives of local bodies in the Bay of Plenty district held at Te Puke it was unanimously resolved : " That, in the opinion of this con- ; ference, the only apparent means of securing direct railway connection between the Bay of Plenty and the main Government line at Rotorua at an earl' date is by means of a line from Rotorua to Paengaroa or thereabout, to be constructed under the provisions of the Local Railway Act, 1914, and that a committee be elected to take immediate steps to further such proposal and carry out the wishes of this conference." It was derided to set ud a committee, to be known aa the Bay of Plenty-Rotorua Railway Committee, and to be constituted as follows Two members from each of the counties of Rotorua, Tauranga, Whakatane, East Taupo and Opotiki; one from 1 each of the boroughs of Tauranga, Whakai tane and Opotiki; one from Te Puke Town Board; one from Rotorua Chamber of Commerce; one from Tauranga Harbour [Board; one from Whakatane Harbour '■ Board; the committee to have power to add to their number. It was resolved that until the various bodies have elected their representatives the Rotorua Committee shall be a committee of management.
