NEW ZEALANDER INJURED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 11. A serious fire broke out yesterday in George Street in the heart of tho shopping centre. It gutted the Crown Studios, and damaged Farmer's building, Roberts's Hotel, and five shops. The damage is roughly estimated at £150.000. The outbreak apparently started in the studios, and, aided Ij a strong wind, quickly spread. At one time, it looked as if the whole block would be destroyed. The cause of the outbreak is unknown.
Mr. Richard Carter, an Auckland engineer staying at Roberts's Hotel, was the first to notice the fire in the hotel. He gave the alarm, and was badly burnt about the arms in escaping.
