TOTAL OF 2345 IN CITIES.
ONE THOUSAND IN AUCKLAND. [BT TELEGRAPH.—OW\ CORRESPONDENT-] CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday. The Minister for Public Health stated to-day that the Registrar-General had supplied the following figures, showing the deaths from influenza or pneumonia following influenza in the chief centres from October 1 to December 17: Auckland 1,021 Wellington 551 Christcnurch, 466 Dunedin. .. .. i.. 304 Total 2,345 Details of the deaths during the three months are as follows :— Oct. Nov. Deo. Auckland .. 20 843 158 Wellington .. 11 126 417 Chriatchurch .. 13 340 113 Dunedra .. 5 154 ,145 The Minister was unable to supply figures for the country districts. Statistics prepared by the RegistrarGeneral gave the deaths from influenza and pneumonia in the city areas to Decerni ber 6 as follows Auckland, 967 ; Wellington, 383; Christchurcli, 443; Dunedin, j 241; total, 2034. It was subsequently I stated, however, that the figures contained only registrations, and not the actual number of deaths.
