APPEAL TO PRESERVE UNITY OF THE FATHERLAND. Times. (Received 7.46 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 30. Great internal commotion has been caused in Germany by the Bavarian Premier, Herr von Dandl, who suggested in a speech the possibilities of the Empire's disunion after the war. The press, in appealing for unity, admits that further Germanic union largely depends on Mr. Wilson's peace conditions, but greatly fears the British and French will to destroy Germany. The Nachrichten states that the foundations of the Empire are beginning to totter. Thousands of Germans are already alienated from the grandson of the first Kaiser. The Empire is now shaken to the depths by the Bavarian development The Frankfort Gazette says: While the world is rocking to its deepest foundations, Austria-Hungary is breaking up and the German Fatherland is fighting on the last ramparts.
