STRONG ENEMY RESISTANCE IN SOUTHERN SUBURBS. Australian and N.Z. and B«uter. LONDON, Oct. 80 Sir Douglas Haig reports: Wg,carried out a successful raid north of Englefontaine, on the edge of Mormal Forest, 11 miles south of Valenciennes, and repulsed an attempted attack north of Famars, four miles south of Valenciennes. LONDON, Oct 30 Mr. Percival Phillips writes: The chief enemy resistance is in the southern outskirts of Valenciennes and in the mile-wide strip between the Scheldt and Rhonelie Rivers. The Germans are holding on firmly to the village of Aulnoy, which our advanced troops reached temporarily yesterday. Fighting has been severe and continuous since Saturday.
