The Socialist paper Vorwarts, commenting on Austria-Hungary's decision to seek immediate peace, says: This means the Bavarian, Saxonian, and Silesian frontiers are no longer safe. Further bloodshed is useless. The task of the military power has finished, but the German nation, even without arms, may play an important part at the peace table. R«ut«r. (Received 7.4G D.m.) AMSTERDAM, Oct. 30. The German newspapers continue to declare that Germany is not suing for peace, but seeking an armistice in order to end the war, treating on equal terms. The changed tone of the newspaper is due to the lull in the fighting. It is.believed in Germany that the army is not fully beaten. The J Lokal Anzieger says: Germany will not go to the conference table as a vanquished opponent, but as an equal. Herr Dernberg, at a public meeting, said: "As we will never enter a League of Nations which humiliates the Germans, we must not be treated as a blinded Samson."
