GREAT DROP ON LAST YEAR.

The total rainfall in Auckland last month, as recorded at the Albert Park Observatory by the official observer, Mr. F. A. F. Burnett, was 2.66 in, or 1.06 in less than the average3.62infor the month of ■ September over a period of 65 years. Rain fell on 15 days, including the first nine days of the month, the maximum fall being recorded for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. on September 26, when .64111 fell. Tho highest rainfall registered in September was in 1868. when there was a fall of 7.45 in, and this only exceeded by -42in the fall during September of last year, when 7.03 in were recorded. Other high totals were registered in 1902. 6.21 in ; in 1889, 6 82in; and in 1912, 5.53 in. The amaltet fall registered in September was .85i;i, in 1901.
